This flexible adventure can start anytime you wish, from any stop that suits you. The Big Bus operates from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
The first stop of our Hop On Hop Off tour is located near the Mall Parque Arauco, a premier shopping destination in Chile and Latin America. Established in 1982, it was the nation's first mall to combine major retail stores and entertainment. Today, it offers an array of dining and entertainment options, featuring both national and international brands, including a luxury district with stores like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Dior. The second stop is at the picturesque Bicentennial Park in the Vitacura district, the largest green space in the area, stretching along the southern bank of the Mapocho River. Spanning 27 hectares, the park boasts diverse landscapes, play areas, statues, sports facilities, and lagoons. It's best explored by strolling along its trails and visiting its two lagoons, home to black-necked swans, flamingos, herons, and fish.
The third stop is the Santiago Cable Car, offering the most stunning panoramic views of the capital. We arrive at the starting point, "Oasis Station," via the main entrance of Pedro de Valdivia. The cable car provides breathtaking 360º views of the city and the majestic Andes Mountains, surrounded by native Chilean flora. As Santiago's top attraction, the cable car takes you straight to the summit of San Cristóbal Hill at "Cumbre Station," home to the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception and the Bellavista Terrace, known for its city views and the traditional "Motes con huesillo," a refreshing treat to enjoy during your visit.
The fourth stop is the Funicular at Parquemet, Santiago's largest green space and Latin America's, widely known as "Cerro San Cristóbal." Declared a Historic Monument in 2000, the "Funicular" is valued for its intricate cable car system and its significance as a heritage site in Santiago. Its entrance through Pío Nono features a grand neoclassical castle designed by the esteemed architect Luciano Kulczewski. Recently renovated, the cars ascend nearly 500 meters to the summit of San Cristóbal. An intermediate station provides access to the National Zoo, and the next is "Estación Cumbre," where you can connect with the Bellavista Terrace, the Sanctuary of the Virgin, and the Cable Car.
The fifth stop is the Plaza de Armas de Santiago, the historic core of the capital and known as kilometer 0. This enchanting space merges colonial architecture with the vibrant pulse of urban life. Encircled by the impressive Metropolitan Cathedral and vibrant buildings like the "Correo", the "Municipalidad de Santiago", and the "Museo de Historia Nacional", the square serves as a cultural hub where history, local crafts, and the city's lively ambiance meet.
The sixth stop is at Plaza de la Constitución, in Santiago's Civic District. The square is surrounded by pivotal buildings and monuments tied to Chile's executive power, alongside statues of notable national political figures: Diego Portales, Pedro Aguirre Cerda, Jorge Alessandri, Eduardo Frei Montalva, and Salvador Allende. The La Moneda Palace, the presidential seat, is the main attraction. Adjacent is the La Moneda Cultural Center, featuring various art exhibitions. Nearby, you'll find the Metropolitan Intendancy, the Santiago Stock Exchange, the Club de la Unión, the University of Chile, Paseo Bulnes, and Barrio Dieciocho.
The seventh stop is Cerro Santa Lucía, a pivotal site since Santiago's founding on February 12, 1541. The monumental neoclassical entrance, completed in 1902, centers around a statue of Neptune, featuring a comprehensive architectural ensemble with curved staircases, pools, a grand terrace, and a triumphal arch topped by a dome.
Beyond the Hill and its architecture, we can explore nearby attractions like the National Library, Paris-London Neighborhood, San Francisco Church, Casa Central de la Universidad Católica, GAM Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, and the Lastarria Neighborhood, filled with art galleries, restaurants, bookstores, and handicrafts.
The eighth stop in Providencia, at Plaza de la Aviación, extends from Balmaceda Park. Named after the Chilean Air Force monument erected in 1980, it also features a Bicentennial water fountain, nearly 70 meters long and over 25 meters wide. Adjacent to the Mapocho River, you can stroll along Providencia Avenue, a bustling tourist area with various shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars, close to Barrio Italia, a gastronomic hotspot known for its international cuisine.
The ninth stop is the tallest building in Latin America, the Costanera Center. This 300-meter-high tower combines modernity and entertainment, becoming a key tourist spot in Santiago. It hosts one of the most modern malls, with numerous clothing, technology, sports, cinema, and entertainment stores, plus a vast culinary selection. Additionally, it features a terrace and a viewpoint called Sky Costanera, offering privileged views of the city. The tenth stop, where modernity meets gastronomy, lies in the heart of the El Golf neighborhood, Las Condes. Known for its mid-20th-century architecture, it was home to affluent families, like the renowned Isidora Goyenechea, the street's namesake. Here, you'll find national and international restaurants and cafes, alongside attractions like Plaza Perú, the Las Condes Municipal Theater, and the Las Condes Interactive Museum, where you can traverse space and time through engaging 3D audiovisual productions, perfect for family enjoyment.
